Common questions

Why only ten papers?

The limit is intentional. SwiphtPapers is a tool for the writing you mean to keep, not for capturing everything that crosses your mind. A small, fixed number forces choice — and over time, the things that survive the cut tend to be the things worth surviving.

My papers aren't syncing between devices.

Check, in order:

  1. The same Apple Account is signed in on both devices.
  2. Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud shows SwiphtPapers as on.
  3. Both devices have an active internet connection.
  4. iCloud has free space available.

First sync after sign-in can take several minutes. If it still doesn't appear, force-quit and reopen the app on the device that's missing changes.

Does SwiphtPapers work with iCloud Advanced Data Protection?

Yes. SwiphtPapers stores your papers in your private CloudKit database. With Advanced Data Protection enabled on your Apple Account, the contents are end-to-end encrypted between your devices and Apple cannot read them. You enable Advanced Data Protection in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Advanced Data Protection.

I subscribed on one device — how do I get Advanced features on my others?

Open SwiphtPapers on the other device, go to the paywall, and tap Restore Purchases. The receipt is fetched from your Apple Account and Advanced features unlock immediately.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone or iPad: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. On Mac: open the App Store app, click your name in the bottom-left, then "Account Settings," scroll to "Subscriptions," and click "Manage." Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.

How do I request a refund?

All App Store billing is handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, find the SwiphtPapers transaction, and choose "Request a refund." Apple's decision is final on its side; we do not directly process refunds.

How do I export a paper?

Open the paper, tap the share icon, and choose "Export as Markdown." The resulting .md file can be sent anywhere the share sheet allows — mail, Files, AirDrop, another app.

I forgot my App Lock — how do I get back in?

App Lock uses Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. If your biometric fails enough times, the app falls back to your device passcode. There is no separate password to recover, because we do not store one.

Why isn't SwiphtPapers in the App Store of mainland China?

It is intentionally not distributed there for the time being. SwiphtPapers is available in 174 other countries and regions through the Apple App Store.

Will SwiphtPapers ever support more than ten papers?

No. The number is part of the design.
